Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Costume Manager, the Costume Technician maintains the collection of historical patterns by creating, altering, and grading patterns, as well as producing sample garments and written sewing instructions as appropriate.  

Responsibilities:

• Develop, modify, and grade patterns using industry-standard techniques and historical wardrobe requirements.
• Measure, lay out, and cut fabrics and materials in preparation for garment construction and production.
• Construct and assemble complex mock up garments, and pattern components as required.
• Conduct new build fittings to prepare patterns for advanced tailoring, alterations, and adjustments to ensure proper fit, function, and historical accuracy.
• Research, design, and create patterns for specific programs, exhibits, productions, and special events as assigned.
• Support staff, volunteers, and students with new build construction and sewing projects in collaboration with the Seamstress.
• Assist with the fitting, alteration, repair, maintenance of patterns to support daily operations, programming, and special events.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient shop workspace, including the proper care and storage of the fabrics, and sewing equipment.
• Support the preservation and stewardship of Heritage Park’s wardrobe collection through appropriate handling and maintenance practices.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Post Secondary Education in clothing design, construction, and tailoring or equivalent experience 
• Experience in industrial sewing, pattern making, and pattern grading are required 
• Experience in historical or period clothing an asset

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Dining Room Supervisor, the Dining Server serves food and beverages to patrons in various dining locations on the Park including the Wainwright Hotel in accordance with accepted routines, to ensure satisfaction for visitors of the Park.

Responsibilities:

Service

• Present menus, take orders, and answer questions regarding menu items, communicating with culinary team to ensure smooth service
  
• Complete opening duties for the assigned service area including ensuring adequate levels of food and cutlery stock, setting up the dining room, and completing a general inspection of the work area and reporting property damage or safety concerns
• Complete closing duties including cash out, cleaning up the servery and dining room and ensuring proper setup for upcoming usage of the venue 
• Process payments accurately and efficiently using POS systems
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the dining area, adhering to Alberta Health Services (AHS) standards to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for guests
• Assist in emergency evacuation procedures, ensuring visitor safety, in calm and efficient manner
• Create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors with a customer-focused approach, providing courteous and friendly customer service and valuable information to enhance the overall visitor experience

Required Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment is preferred but not required 
  
• Possession of ProServe certification is preferred; meeting ProServe eligibility requirements (being 18 years of age or older) is mandatory

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Animal Care and Agriculture Manager and direct supervision of the Teamster Coordinator, this individual drives and cares for specified horses at Heritage Park and performs associated duties while ensuring safe transportation for visitors. 

Responsibilities:

Horse Care and Transportation

• Harness and drive assigned teams in accordance with prescribed standards
• Ensure the safety of the horses pulling the vehicle, the teamster assistant, and any guests riding in the carriage
• Develop familiarity and rapport with the horses on the Park including knowledge and understanding of individual personalities and behaviours
• Recognize changes in horses' behavior, identify the cause of these changes (e.g., park stimuli), respond appropriately to the altered behavior, and communicate any observations and updates to the Manager of Animal Care and Agriculture, the Teamster Coordinator, other teamsters, and teamster assistants.
• Ensure horses are handled properly and that equipment is maintained in order to ensure visitor safety 
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on horse-drawn wagons and associated equipment, identifying and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety during all transportation activities, following established safety protocols to minimize risks to self, employees, visitors, and animals
• Ensure proper care and handling of all assigned horses, including their cleaning, grooming, feeding and exercising  
• Observe for sickness, disease or injury, recognizing changes in health and/or behaviour (such as lethargy and lameness) in the horse and proceeding accordingly and assisting with appropriate treatment as required
• In the event of an emergency, such as a runaway, once the team has safely stopped, assess the situation to determine the appropriate next steps and provide direction or delegate tasks to the teamster assistant as needed
• Maintain and repair all assigned equipment, harness, machinery, buildings, fences, pens, corrals and pastures in accordance with prescribed standards, including those of safety and cleanliness 
• Assist in farming operation at Heritage Park including plowing, seeding, harvesting, haying and threshing if required
• Ensure guests, staff, and volunteers have a positive experience by being friendly and courteous, greeting guests warmly, and handling situations with positivity

Required Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in a field related to animal husbandry, or industry related experience is an asset 
• Minimum 250 hours (or 2-4 months) experience or advanced experience in driving (horses), teams and/or single horses is required within the past 2 years
• Must pass Heritage Park driving test (administered by Teamster Coordinator) as part of hiring process
• Previous experience in an agricultural setting working with draft horses or other livestock is required
• Demonstratable skills as a teamster and in caring for horses
• Knowledge and skill in how to address health and behaviour issues in a horse including when to escalate concern to the vet
• Knowledge of safe operating techniques and emergency situations/procedures is mandatory 
• Relevant skills in repairing related equipment are preferred 
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Teamster Coordinator, the Teamster Assistant supports the care, handling, and safe management of assigned horses and livestock. Under the supervision of a Teamster, this role cares for Heritage Park horses in a safe, responsible manner while contributing to an enjoyable guest experience. The incumbent will receive instruction and coaching on safely driving teams in accordance with Heritage Park policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Horse Care and Transportation

• Assist with the feeding, care and proper handling of all assigned horses and animals as needed, including their cleaning, grooming and exercising
• Observe teams for signs of sickness, disease, or injury and assists with appropriate treatment as required
• Assist with the maintenance and repair of assigned equipment, harnesses, machinery, buildings, fences, pens, corrals, and pastures in accordance with prescribed safety and cleanliness standards
• Assist with catching, harnessing and hooking up teams, ensuring proper handling of equipment and following procedures
• Drive or rides with the Teamster on a daily basis, as experience and time permit, to build competency and knowledge in driving while continuing to provide an interactive and engaging experience for Park visitors.
• Ensure that all relevant equipment and areas (such as barns, stalls and paddocks) are cleaned and kept tidy
• Ensure guests, staff, and volunteers have a positive experience by being friendly and courteous, greeting guests warmly, and handling situations with positivity
• Create a welcoming environment for visitors, answering questions and providing information to enhance their visit
• Assist in farming operation at Heritage Park including plowing, seeding, harvesting, haying and threshing if required 
• Perform other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

• Enrollment in or completion of secondary education is required; post-secondary education in a field related to agriculture would be an asset
• Previous experience riding, caring for, and/or working directly with horses is required
• Knowledge specifically of proper care and health procedures combined with horse husbandry experience is required
• Prior large animal (livestock) care experience would be an asset
• Previous driving experience is not required, but is an asset
• Prior Teamster Assistant type experience is an asset
• Ability to detect illness and behavioural changes in horses and provide proper care
• Willingness to develop skills as a teamster if deemed suitable
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-faced setting

In the role of a Railway Maintenance Engineer, the individual serves as the primary point of contact for mechanical operations within the railroad. Their responsibilities include assigning tasks, providing general feedback, and overseeing day-to-day operations. They lead a team of mechanical specialists trained in welding, machining, and pipe fitting, ensuring the completion of general inspections, process monitoring, and maintenance tasks in compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, they drive trains, supervise track staff, and oversee track inspections to maintain railway safety requirements. 

Responsibilities:

Maintenance 

• Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the steam trains are maintained and kept in working condition 
• Supports seasonal and casual staff by assigning tasks, monitoring work and providing feedback 
• Provides feedback on day-to-day performance to Chief Engineer to support performance reviews 
• Oversee track staff (track foreman, machinist, and steam mechanic) and supervise minor repairs 
• Act as the point of contact for mechanical operations as a specialist, providing guidance for troubleshooting issues 
• Troubleshoot issues as they arise and ensures accurate record keeping in repair logs 
• Facilitate job-related training and development for staff, including new hire training, job shadowing, job rotation and skills training 
• Provide basic training in welding, machining, and pipe fitting skills to other employees 
• Conduct general inspections on a daily basis 
• Monitor process operations, particularly steam flowing 
• Complete regular periodic comprehensive inspections and maintenance, ensuring compliance with Alberta Transport and COR standards 
• Operate trains as both a fireman and engineer as needed 
• Hold a Track Inspection Level 2 certification as per Alberta Transportation Railway Safety Requirements 
• Perform other duties as required 

Required Qualifications:  

• Completion of 4th Class Power Engineer certification is required 
• A minimum of one (1) years of experience in a role that demonstrates skilled mechanical aptitude is required; diesel mechanic experience including familiarity with diesel engines is an asset   
• A minimum of six (6) months of experience in a lead role/project lead role in a work or academic environment is required 
• Minimum 6 months prior experience as a Locomotive Engineer or Fireman is preferred

• The standard hours for this position are 40 hours per week 
• The schedule will generally be five consecutive days per week (Monday to Friday)
